Prattville – Autauga County Emergency Management Agency and the Autauga Citizen Corps Council will host “Be Ready Day” on Saturday, September 26, at Pratt Park in downtown Prattville.
The event will begin at 9 AM and wrap up at 1 PM. Children and adults will be able to get hands on learning from live demonstrations, view emergency equipment, vehicles, displays, and learn about the roles individuals can play when preparing for disasters.
The main goal of the event is to teach the community to be involved, be informed, and be ready.
“The first ‘Be Ready Day’ is being held with the primary emphasis being placed on being prepared,” said Rocky Milliman, Autauga County EMA Director. “The Autauga County Citizen Corps Council, along with the Autauga County Emergency Management Agency, have a goal of increasing public awareness through this even by bringing people together with our first responders, health officials, and community professionals.”
“We will be handing out materials, providing giveaways, and hosting demonstrations that will stress the importance of being prepared,” Milliman continued. “With the theme of ‘Be Ready,’ we are counting on the participants to walk away with a better understanding of what they can do to ready their household and keep their loved ones safe.”
Everyone needs to come out for this free event and a chance to win prizes throughout the day. For more information, call Roxanne Royal at the Autauga County EMA at 361-3758.
