Prattville – Due to the wintry mix falling on Thursday and based on forecast predictions overnight which may result in slippery roadways, Mayor Jim Byard Jr. has announced that all City of Prattville offices will delay opening by two hours on Friday morning.

“Wintry weather conditions are a safety concern on roadways as ice may form due to freezing rain on bridges, overpasses and non-drained areas,” the mayor said.

According to a statement issued by the National Weather Service at 1:30 PM on Thursday, an arctic cold front will move across Central Alabama tonight allowing temperatures to plummet into the teens and 20s. Moisture remaining on roadways, bridges, and overpasses will freeze causing travel difficulties.

The two-hour opening delay does not include critical and essential public works and public safety staff. As usual, for emergency assistance, dial 911. For all non-emergency assistance, dial (334) 361-9911. For information and updates visit
