Prattville – Authorities with the Autauga County Sheriff’s Office reported on Thursday that a Deatsville man has been charged with multiple counts of Sodomy.

Oscar Lee Wingo, 64, of 315 County Road 68 in Deatsville, was arrested on twenty counts of Sodomy 1st Degree, which has been occurring over several years, according to Sheriff’s investigators.

It was disclosed by the Sheriff’s Office that an arrest warrant was executed in Shelby County yesterday with the assistance of the County Sheriff’s office there and the Alabama Power Company where Wingo was employed.

“This is an extremely delicate case that not only involved the victims and families, but also for members of the community and investigators,” said Autauga County Sheriff James “Herbie” Johnson.

Johnson stated that he would continue to insure that the Sheriff’s Office provides the dedicated and professional service to Autauga County that ferrets out these crimes with tenacity and vigor.

The sheriff also indicated the investigators will continue to diligently pursue all leads in this case and encourages anyone from the public to come forward should there be other unidentified victims in this matter.

Captain Jim Steele, Investigations Division, Sheriff’s Office, followed up the sheriff’s comment by stating, “We don’t just go home at night and not think about such traumatic events. This is a difficult issue for all of us!”

The initial investigation was received by Deputy S. Brosius, who immediately coordinated for a joint investigation with investigators from the Department of Human Resources Child Protect Services, related Steele.

Bond for Wingo, who is incarcerated at the Autauga Metro Jail, was set at $1 million, according to authorities.
