Prattville – Hobby Lobby held a soft opening Thursday afternoon giving the residents of Prattville yet one more reason to stay north of the river to shop. The arts & crafts store is located just west of the clock tower in The Exchange shopping center.
Store manager, Bo Allen, moved to the Prattville store from the Montgomery location where he was co-manager.
“I’m happy to be here in Prattville,” Allen stated. “There are 30 employees in the 45,000 square foot store.”
Allen explained the differences between Hobby Lobby and its market competitor Michael’s which is located locally in the Premier Place shopping center.
“Hobby Lobby stores tend to be larger, are more colorful, have a better selection,” Allen said. “We have more in the way of home decor than Michael’s.”
According to Allen there were 100 estimated customers for the soft opening on Thursday, 300 on Friday, and 1,000 customers on Saturday.
The store will hold its official grand opening on October 5.
