Prattville – An accident with injury occurred Friday morning around 11:15 at the corner of U.S. Highways 82 and 31, blocking a portion of one of Prattville’s busiest intersections.

According to Prattville Fire Department Battalion Commander Allen Owens, an eighteen-wheel truck apparently t-boned a white compact four-door sedan, and it was necessary to extricate the driver from the car.

The Commander further stated that the victim was transported to Baptist South and the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.

The vehicle suffered extensive damage to the passenger side and was totaled, while the truck appeared to have received only minor damage to its front end and grill area.

Ten people responded from the fire department to the scene: one engine company, a command vehicle, one heavy rescue unit, and an ambulance, stated Owens.

It is not known at this time whether the heavy rain in the area played a part in the accident.
