Hyannis Port, MA – The “Lion of the Senate” Edward Moore “Ted” Kennedy, 77, has died at his Hyannis Port, Massachusetts home after a long battle with brain cancer. He was elected to the Senate in 1962.
Kennedy was the second most senior member of the Senate, after Robert Byrd of West Virginia. He is the second-longest-serving senator in U.S. history.
The Massachusetts Democrat was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May of 2008 after suffering a seizure.
