Prattville – Excitement is beginning to mount as the Navistar LPGA Classic returns to The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Capitol Hill in Prattville September 28-October 4.

With a purse of $1.4 million at stake, Lorena Ochoa, last year’s winner, will be poised to defend her title. The 28-year old is currently ranked No. 1 in the world according to the Rolex Women’s Golf Rankings.

A full field of 144 of the world’s top women golfers will be competing, including fan favorites Christie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Natalie Gulbis, Christina Kim, Anna Rawson, Se Ri Pak, Wendy Ward, and a bevy of others.

Official tournament rounds will begin at 6:50 AM on October 1.
Prattville Mayor Jim Byard Jr. and other leaders from the River Region met last week with Bruno Event Team officials and tournament officials regarding this year’s Navistar LPGA Classic.

“To date, ticket sales are stronger, we have a stronger player line up, and there will be several exciting changes that fans will notice during this year’s venue,” Byard said.

“The overall enthusiasm and anticipation is building, and it looks like we are in store for another exciting tournament week, and another great publicity event for our city and region.”

Selina Maddox, Volunteer Director for Navistar, recently stated that there is a pressing need for Marshals, Greens Reporters, Scoring Central and TV Spotters/Scorers.

“We are at about 400 volunteers for the Navistar LPGA Classic tournament,” Maddox said. “We would like to have 600 to be able to fill all the committees.”

“We provide a training session for the volunteers who are not familiar with a committee responsibility so no golf knowledge is needed.”

Volunteer responsibilities will include transporting players to and from the airport, keeping crowds inside the roped boundaries, and helping out in dozens of other areas. Volunteers definitely help the Navistar LPGA Classic in becoming a successful endeavor.

Those who choose to volunteer are charged a fee to participate – $60 for golfers and $30 for non-golfers. Golfers will enjoy a round of golf, a shirt, and access to the tournament all week for the $60 price. For the non-golfer, the $30 fee includes everything except the round of golf.

Navistar LPGA Classic volunteers will be accepted right up until tournament play begins, and may sign up online at www.navistarlpgaclassic.com or by contacting Selina Maddox at smaddox@brunoeventteam.com or (334) 850-4336.

Daily passes for the Navistar LPGA Classic are $10 and free for children and military personnel. Watching the tournament from the Skybox Club will cost $100 per day and there will be a charge of $125 a day at the Legends Club (a VIP area).
