Prattville – Prattville residents will now have a larger stand-alone CVS store opening in a couple of weeks to replace an older store in the Pratt Plaza Shopping Center.
The new store, which was built about a year ago, is located on the outlet in front of the other store on Main Street.
All employees from the older store will be transferred to the new store, according to Michael DeAngelis, Director of Public Relations for CVS Caremark Corporation.
“When we do a relocation, we close the existing store the evening before and then all of the employees and systems transfer over,” DeAngelis said. “Then we open on Sunday morning at the new location.”
The PR Director also said that January 24 will be a soft opening.
“Once we’re open a week after the soft opening, there usually will be a grand opening; a week of sales, specials, and things of that nature,” he said.
When asked about the delay in opening, DeAngelis blamed it primarily on logistics.
“When you do a relocation, you have to take into account the obligations of the other store.”
DeAngelis also stated that the new stand-alone buildings are able to be larger than the shops located beside other businesses.
“The brand new stores are over 13,000 square feet as opposed to only 8,400 square feet in the older stores,” DeAngelis said. “So, there is a larger selection of merchandise, a drive-thru pharmacy, and, of course, a digital photo processing center.”
Hours of operation will be 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM, with pharmacy hours of 8:00 AM until 6:00 PM on weekends.
