Millbrook, AL – Shoppers will surely be happy to know that there is going be a new grocery store opening in Millbrook in the old Food World building at 3543 Highway 14.

Food Outlet, a grocery chain store affiliated with Associated Grocers out of Birmingham, Alabama will open its doors on October 1.

The store utilizes a “cost plus 10%” concept that was designed to save money for consumers. Store items are sold at cost (includes freight, fees, and associated expenses) plus ten percent which is added to the amount of your total purchases at the checkout.

After Food World closed there was a gap in the marketplace. Manager of the Millbrook store, Greg Chandler, feels that Food Outlet will not only fill the gap but will also save grocery shoppers money in the process.

“I think that there is a need for another store in the area,” Chandler said. “Everyday items like bread, milk, and eggs are definitely cheaper here. Depending on the item, you can save anywhere from 2-5 cents on up to much more.”

Chandler said the store will have a full-service meat department.

“Our meats will be packaged and cut here so that the product will be fresh in the store,” said Chandler.

The store’s soft opening and ribbon cutting will occur on October 1; however, the grand opening event will be held on October 28.
