Opening of Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Garden in Prattville Rescheduled

Prattville – Phase 1 of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Garden will open to the public Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00AM. The event was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 23 and was postponed due to inclement weather. Senator Wendell Mitchell, Representative Mac Gipson, Prattville Mayor Jim Byard, and other dignitaries will be on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremony at the Prattville Agricultural Experiment Station at 713 County Road 4 East.

This first phase includes construction of the walkways and opening of the first two gardens – the Children’s Garden and the Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden. Within the Children’s garden will be a playhouse, 3 Sisters Indian Garden, Dinosaur Dig Garden, Sundial Garden, Pizza Garden and Plants of the World Garden. The Butterfly and Hummingbird Garden will feature a uniquely designed “butterfly” shaped bed.
