Montgomery, AL – Over 400 adults ate and drank with the giraffes and pachyderms last night at the Montgomery Zoo for Zoobilation 2009.
The Honorary Chairs for the event, Mayor and Mrs. Todd Strange, thanked everyone for coming to the fundraiser benefitting the Montgomery Zoo. Strange also introduced Prattville Mayor Jim Byard Jr. who was in attendance with his wife Beverly.
Hosted in part by the Montgomery Area Zoological Society, guests dined on delectable food and drinks from the area’s finest restaurants and caterers.
Vendors included Boomer T’s BBQ, Chris’ Famous Hotdogs, Down the Street Café, Farmer’s Market Café, Ruddles Pub & Grill, Flips Uptown Grill, Eastside Grill, Allstate Beverage, Royal Cup Coffee, Bama Budweiser, and the Alley Bar.
“Tacos with a Southern Soul” were introduced by Jim ‘n Nicks BBQ and the four choices are Bar-B-Q Pork Taco, Bar-B-Q Chicken Taco, Beef Brisket Taco, and Fried Catfish Taco. The new dish will first be available in the Prattville location.
The evening also included live entertainment provided by Tapestry and Bennie and the Jets. JT and Leanne Thompson of Mix 103, one of the busiest couples in the River Region, emceed the event.
A silent auction was held and door prizes were won by ticket drawings.
Proceeds from Zoobilation 2009 will be contributed to the enhancements of the North American Alligator exhibit.
