Prattville – The “Happy Birthday America” themed 4th of July Parade will begin at 9:00 AM at the Autauga County Courthouse and will end at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. Grand Marshals are JT and Leanne with Mix 103.3. Children on bikes, tricycles, and scooters are invited to join in for a morning of family fun.

The Lion’s Club will hold its Annual Barbecue and Camp Stew Sale at 10:00 AM at Pratt Park. Families can also enjoy arts and crafts vendors, bake sales, pony rides, and live entertainment at the park while dining on good food.

The “Cardboard Boat Races” will begin after the parade at the Prattville City Pool. Sponsored by Prattville’s Dept. of Leisure Services, trophies will be awarded for winners of different categories such as Fastest Time, Most Decorative, and the “Titanic” Award for the most dramatic sink.

Boats can only be assembled with cardboard and duct tape at the premises on the morning of the race. The entry fee is $5.00 and pre-registration is required. For more information, call Leisure Services at (334) 361-3640.

A patriotic program will end the day of fun and festivities at Stanley-Jensen Stadium. It kicks off at 6:00 PM and there will be food vendors and live entertainment by DJ Steve Haynes, The Prattville Pops, and the Prattville Community Chorus. A fireworks display will begin at dark. Bring lawn chairs, blankets, and your children… but no pets are allowed on the field.

The City of Prattville thanks Colonial Bank for again being the Fireworks title sponsor. “Colonial Bank is pleased to once again support Prattville’s Independence Day celebration. Our Nation was founded on some of the same basic principles which guide Colonial Bank today – hard work, integrity, determination, and trust,” said Jill Huffstutler, area administrator for the Montgomery region.

“Additionally, at Colonial Bank we believe in family and community. Our support is a part of our commitment to Prattville and the many communities we serve,” Huffstutler said.

Kellie Cook, Special Events Director, stated that this year’s fireworks display would cost over $15,000. “We are very fortunate to have Colonial Bank come back on board as our key sponsor this year. We wouldn’t be able to host this family event without their support or the support of our other sponsors. Their sponsorship is truly appreciated by the citizens of Prattville and the River Region.”

Thanks also to other sponsors including Prattville Chamber of Commerce, Ridout’s Prattville Chapel, Vinyltech, and the Prattville Lion’s Club.
