Prattville – Prattville, Alabama is experiencing a rare March winter storm. The system is bringing accumulating snow to the city. As of 7 AM snow is already accumulating on trees, light polls, vehicles and of course the ground.
The snow is expected to continue throughout the morning and into the late afternoon. The skies should clear this evening according to The National Weather Service in Birmingham, Alabama.
Prattville did receive a light dusting of snow last winter, however the snow melted quickly.
Snow in Alabama is a rare event and is usually seen in northern most parts of the state.

SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO DEVELOP OVER CENTRAL ALABAMA ON SUNDAY MORNING AND AFTERNOON… AS A DEEPENING UPPER LEVEL STORM SYSTEM MOVES OVER SOUTH ALABAMA. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF TWO INCHES OR LESS ARE LIKELY.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES… AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

AS COLD AIR AND MOISTURE… ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SYSTEM… SPREAD OVER THE AREA… LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW WILL DEVELOP OVER ALL OF CENTRAL ALABAMA. SNOW WILL BEGIN OVER THE WESTERN COUNTIES… BEFORE SUNRISE… AND SPREAD OVER THE REMAINDER OF CENTRAL ALABAMA THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING… LINGERING IN EAST ALABAMA INTO SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
