Montgomery, AL – The Alabama Restaurant Association along with the Junior League of Montgomery present The Taste of the River Region (formerly the Taste of Montgomery) on October 4, 2009 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center in downtown Montgomery.
The event features about 35 restaurants and beverage vendors from Montgomery, Prattville, and Wetumpka, musical entertainment by Souled Out, and other festivities.
Proceeds will benefit the Junior League of Montgomery. Jodie Champion, President of the League, says this is the first time the organization has been the recipient of the fundraiser.
“They had it for about thirty years and the beneficiary was always the Alabama Youth Ranch,” Champion said. “Then, they took a four-year hiatus and when they came back last year, Brantwood was the recipient. This year it is the Junior League.”
There are about 800 women (both active and sustaining) who are currently members of the League and who end up volunteering over 20,000 hours to the community every year.
The organization assists in funding Boys and Girls Clubs of Montgomery, Family Sunshine Center, MACOA Meals on Wheels, Montgomery Cancer Wellness Center, and Make-A-Wish.
Tickets for Taste of the River Region are $25 if purchased ahead of time and $30 at the door.
