Prattville – The City of Prattville Leisure Services in conjunction with the Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division are holding two upcoming fishing events at Pratt Park Pond in Prattville. First up is the Senior Fish Fest on Wednesday, May 27, from 7:00 AM-3:00 PM. On Saturday, June 6, it’s the Kids Fish Fest which will run in two sessions. The morning session will run from 8:00-11:00 AM and the afternoon session is from Noon-3:00 PM.
According to Betty Hall, Program Director of The Prattville Department of Leisure Services, the Senior Adult Fish Fest will cost $1.00 per person and will include a hotdog & soda lunch. There will be prizes for the first five seniors to catch and turn in a tagged fish to a Department of Leisure Services staff member. Only one pole per person will be allowed in the pond at a time. Limit of 7 fish per person.
The Kids Fish Fest is free and each child must have a ticket to fish. Tickets can be picked up Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM-6:00 PM at the Doster Community Center. Children, ages 5 to 14 years old, may fish and each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. One pole and a limit of 4 fish per child. The first five kids to turn in a tagged fish will receive a prize. A limited amount of fishing poles, tackle and bait (chicken livers) will be available by request.
Doug Darr, Aquatic Education Coordinator for The Alabama Wildlife and Freshwater Fisheries Division, said his district will be providing rods and reels for the events.
