Prattville – Big Al, the University of Alabama mascot, made a big splash at the Prattville Public Library between 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Children were treated to stories and snacks as they visited with the Alabama elephant.

Big Al debuted as Alabama’s mascot in the 1979 Sugar Bowl, at the famous “goal line stand” against Penn State, and he cheered them on to a 14-7 victory and national championship. Today Big Al is one of the nation’s most popular collegiate mascots.
