Prattville – Chilton County, Alabama native Grayson Russell will join family, friends, and fans on March 19 at the Prattville Carmike Cinema for the premiere of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
The film is a family comedy motion picture based on the best-selling illustrated novel Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, the first in a series that has 30 million copies in print. It chronicles the adventures of wisecracking pre-teen Greg Heffley whose inner circle includes Fregley (Russell), a thin, hyper, weird kid and the proud owner of a secret freckle.
The redhead whom some critics say nearly stole the show as Will Ferrell’s son, Texas Ranger, in the comedy Talladega Nights, made his screen debut in the film four years ago. He is also known to Alabamians as the “You’ll be grinnin’ when you buy from McKinnon” kid in various McKinnon Motors commercials.
Russell recently starred in an episode of I’m in the Band, a new Disney series, and currently has a leading role in the independent film The Rainbow Tribe. In 2008 he was a presenter at the Dove Awards, which recognizes Christian and Gospel music.
“We are extremely excited that Grayson chose Prattville to attend his movie premiere,” said Mayor Jim Byard, Jr. “We hope everyone comes out to the Prattville Carmike Cinema to meet him and watch the movie.”
The young actor will sign autographs at 6:00 PM before the evening showing of the film.
