Millbrook, AL – Millbrook will soon be enjoying some of the same delicious food that has fed Montgomery diners for many years. The Wagon Wheel Café is located at 1961 Bell Street (directly across from Maxwell Air Force Base) in the capital city and is about to open a second restaurant on Highway 14 right down from the Church at the Brook in the old Crossroads location.
Manager Stacey Callicott said that they are shooting for February 16 as an opening date, but that all depends on whether the building renovations are completed.
“We had to do all of the work ourselves and the inside had to be remodeled,” said Callicott. “We had to redo the floors and tile, also paint and replace sheetrock.”
Callicott also stated that the Millbrook restaurant would be open at night, unlike the Montgomery Wagon Wheel Café, which closes at 3:00 PM during the week.
“We haven’t decided whether we will close at 8:00 or 9:00 at night, and that will be Monday thru Saturday,” Callicott continued.
Hiring has been going on for the past three months and a few of the employees from Montgomery will transfer to the new location.
At 6:00 AM, breakfast plates, sandwiches, omelets, and pancakes are available. Lunch begins at 11:00 AM and for approximately $8, you have a choice of meat and two vegetables. Dessert and tea are also included in the price.
