Montgomery, AL – An estimated crowd of over one thousand people took full advantage of the cooler temperatures and lower humidity tonight at the Riverwalk Amphitheater for free Movies Monday. Hotel for Dogs began at about 7:30 PM on Monday night and full concessions were available.

This was the first time this month that the Movies Monday was held at the amphitheater; the first two events were moved to the Union Station train shed due to inclement weather.

Joanne Gilliland, of Prattville, brought four children to the event; Alyssa and Angel who are eight, Hailey five, and Abby who is four years old. “This is our first time here, but we love to come down to the river. We also go to Prattville’s free movies at Cooters Pond Park,” Gilliland said.

When asked what brought them out tonight, she answered, “We wanted to see Hotel for Dogs and we’ll come to see Bride Wars next week. We’re just always looking for something inexpensive to do with the kids.”

Hotel for Dogs is a recent theatrical release and stars Emma Roberts, Don Cheedle, Lisa Kudrow, Jake T. Austin, and Yvette Nicole Brown. The plot revolves around Friday, an adorable dog, who eventually ends up in a “hotel” with many of his furry friends.

The last Movies Monday of the month will be the showing of Bride Wars on July 27. Bride Wars is a comedy starring Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway, and Candice Bergen.
