Montgomery – The Montgomery Biscuits will open their sixth season with a five-game series at Riverwalk Stadium against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx starting Thursday, April 9. MAX Fireworks Spectaculars will cap off the evenings of both opening night and Saturday night, April 11, and you can receive a magnet schedule during the first three nights of the series.
On Friday, April 10, two-sided posters featuring former Biscuits who have gone on to the Majors, will be given away. The poster series will continue on Friday, July 18, and conclude on Friday, August 28. Three other giveaways will be held over the course of the season, presented to the first 3,000 fans in attendance; on May 8, presented by Knology, June 12, presented by the local Chrysler and Jeep dealers, and the “Get 10” giveaway, presented by the Alabama Department of Public Health, on August 30.
Everyone’s favorite nerd, Myron Noodleman, visits the park on April 24. A new face will visit also, Jake the Diamond Dog. Jake will assist the batboy and entertain the crowd on Sunday, June 14, as a part of Bark in the Park Day. Fans are encouraged to bring their own pooches for a dog day afternoon.
Other new theme nights include Tampa Bay Rays Night on Friday, July 17; Saturday, May 9, will be Circus night, with performers, midway games, and a festival atmosphere. Military Appreciation Night will be held on June 13; Country night with free pony rides on July 31; and Auburn/Alabama night on August 15. Family Faith Nights will be June 26, July 18, and August 7 and Montgomery Advertiser Autograph Days on May 31 and August 8. Daily promos from 2008 will remain the same in 2009.
Each Thursday home game is Thirsty Thursday with $2 drink specials. Each Sunday home game is Kids Day and Wednesday home games are Military Wednesdays. Biscuits Charities Night will be held on August 29, featuring the United Way Jersey auction and fans will have the opportunity to bid on the players’ game-worn road jerseys, with the proceeds benefitting the United Way.
Biscuits manager, Billy Gardner, Jr., will be returning for his third season as manager. Gardner will be joined by fellow returning coach Neil Allen, who will be leading Montgomery’s pitching staff also for a third consecutive season.
Jon Laaser has joined the Biscuits organization as the “Voice of the Biscuits.” Laaser will serve as the team’s lead radio announcer and will provide the radio play-by-play call of all 140 Biscuits regular season games in 2009 on News Radio 1440. In addition to his on-air-duties. Laaser will also write and design the 2009 Biscuits Media Guide, provide daily materials and games stories, coordinate media operations, and contribute team-related content to BiscuitsBaseball.com.
2009 Individual game tickets are on sale Saturday, March 28. Season tickets are $54.00 and kids (12 years old and under) eat free every Sunday. For more information, see the website below.
